Hardware
For my home server i use a Dell optiplex micro computer. It size and power consumption compared to the power is perfexct for a small home server running multiple Linux servers and containers
Specs
CPU: Intel i5-8500T, 6 Cores, 2.10GHz
Memory: 16GB ddr4 2333MHz
Storage: 1TB SSD NVME
Power Consumption: 15-25 W

Hypervisor
I choose to use a hypervisor because it helps me utilize my hardware more efficiently. Having multiple serveres also helps me simplyfi setups as i don’t have to worry about 13 services running on the same host. The hypervisor allows me to run just one service on one server which ensures easy scaleability and stability.
For the hypervisor software i chose Proxmox because its a free type 1 hypervisor and its very well known and supported both by software and hardware vendors worldwide. Proxmox provides all the advanced features i can imagine and is future proof as support running servers in a cluster.
Virtual servers and applications
With my home assistant i control all my lights asswell as temperature. I Use home assistant as a home bridge where i present all data from homeassistant, but also from thirdparty servers and applications. My plkan is to make homeassistant the only place to look at least for seing and manageing the front applications. By front applications i mean apps and programs that helps in the daily, compared to my backend apps that handles sign in, reverse proxy, etc.
For my home assistant i use the official KVM VM image.
